The 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude pairs the refreshed two-row Grand Cherokee body with black exterior detailing, a new turbocharged engine and a larger navigation touchscreen. It occupies an interesting place between Laredo X and Limited: it has more than an appearance package, including the 324-horsepower Hurricane 4 engine, wireless phone charging and several additional technology features.
This guide covers the Canadian five-seat Altitude, with specifications, standard equipment, options and pricing in Canadian dollars. The Automotive Car Reviews walkaround below offers a closer look at its exterior and cabin. The three-row Grand Cherokee L is a separate configuration with different dimensions and cargo space.

Models and Trims Available
The Canadian two-row 2026 lineup lists Laredo, Laredo X, Altitude, Limited, 85th Anniversary Edition, Limited Reserve and Summit. The Laredo models use the 3.6-litre Pentastar V6; Altitude introduces the 2.0-litre Hurricane 4 turbo engine. A trim’s equipment therefore needs to be checked alongside its engine, rather than assuming that every Grand Cherokee has the same powertrain.
Altitude adds 20-inch Gloss Black wheels, dark exterior accents, a black headliner, Capri leatherette seats with suede inserts, a power liftgate and remote start. Its standard package also includes the larger 12.3-inch navigation display and wireless charging pad. Limited is the next step for buyers comparing additional seat comfort and audio equipment. The Grand Cherokee L provides a third row for families needing more than five seats.
Engine, Transmission and 4×4 System

The Altitude’s 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four produces 324 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque. Jeep calls it the Hurricane 4 Turbo; the configurator identifies it as the 2.0L I4 Turbo GME EVO with Stop/Start. It is paired with an eight-speed automatic and a 3.70 rear axle ratio. This is a gasoline powertrain, with no charging requirement.
Four-wheel drive is included, and the Altitude package lists Selec-Terrain traction management. This lets the vehicle adjust its controls for different surface conditions. Its normal-duty suspension uses conventional springs; the air suspension advertised elsewhere in the Grand Cherokee range should not be treated as an Altitude feature. Similarly, the range’s most advanced transfer-case and differential equipment should not be assumed from the 4×4 badge alone.
Towing, Payload and Equipment
The model specification lists 1,588 kg (3,500 lb) of base towing capacity. Jeep advertises up to 2,812 kg (6,200 lb) for a properly equipped Hurricane 4 Grand Cherokee. Reaching that higher figure requires the appropriate factory towing configuration, so buyers should match the actual vehicle’s equipment and ratings to their trailer.
The optional Trailer Tow Package was C$695 when checked. It includes a Class IV receiver, seven- and four-pin wiring, rear load-levelling suspension, a full-size spare tire with an 18-inch steel wheel and trailer hitch zoom. A trailer brake controller is not listed among those included features, so owners of trailers needing electric brake control should confirm the correct installation separately.
Jeep’s comparison table lists a 562-kg payload reference and a 2,744-kg gross vehicle weight rating. The individual vehicle’s loading label takes precedence because options can affect the available payload. People, luggage, accessories and trailer tongue weight all count toward that limit; maximum towing capacity is not extra payload capacity.
Fuel Economy
Jeep’s 2026 Altitude specification lists fuel consumption of 11.5 L/100 km in the city, 9.2 on the highway and 10.4 combined. Those are the figures for the turbo four-cylinder two-row model, rather than the V6 or longer Grand Cherokee L. The tank holds approximately 87.1 litres and the listed fuel requirement is regular gasoline.
At the combined figure, 20,000 km would use approximately 2,080 litres of fuel. Multiplying that amount by the local fuel price provides a useful annual cost estimate. Cold temperatures, shorter trips, extra cargo and towing can increase consumption compared with the official rating.
Interior, Seats and Cargo Space

The Grand Cherokee Altitude seats five in two rows. Its rear bench folds 60/40, allowing one or two rear seating positions to remain available while carrying a longer item. The driver’s seat has eight-way power adjustment and four-way power lumbar support; the passenger’s seat has four-way manual adjustment. Heated front seats and a heated steering wheel are included, along with dual-zone automatic climate control.
The exact upholstery description in the configurator is Capri leatherette with suede inserts. That is more precise than calling the entire cabin leather. Rear-seat heating, front-seat ventilation and seat memory are not part of the standard Altitude specification. The black headliner and darker exterior treatment distinguish it visually from the Laredo models.
A power liftgate is included. The single-pane power sunroof is optional at C$1,295, despite being included on the neighbouring Laredo X. This is a good example of why equipment does not always carry across trims in a simple sequence. The Altitude also includes rain-sensing wipers, remote start and an auxiliary household-style power outlet.
The official model table lists approximately 2,005 litres of maximum luggage volume with the rear seats folded. That figure does not represent the cargo room with all five seats occupied. The two-row body measures about 4,915 mm long and 1,969 mm wide, excluding mirrors, with a 2,964-mm wheelbase. Its smaller footprint should be compared directly with the Grand Cherokee L when garage space and passenger needs are being weighed.

Infotainment and Connected Technology

Uconnect 5 NAV with a 12.3-inch touchscreen is included on Altitude, together with a 10.25-inch driver display. The centre system includes GPS navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, hands-free phone functions and USB smartphone projection. A wireless charging pad is standard, so a compatible device can be charged without using the USB ports.
The included audio system has six premium speakers. A premium nine-speaker or McIntosh system shown on another trim should not be described as standard here. The equipment list also includes HD Radio, SiriusXM with 360L, connected travel and traffic services and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot. Data and connected-service functions may require paid plans after included trial periods.

Safety and Driver Assistance
Standard assistance includes Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning Plus with active braking, Active Lane Management and Blind-Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Path Detection. The Altitude’s included package also lists Active Driving Assist, Intersection Collision Assist and Traffic Sign Recognition. These features give the trim more than the basic lane and blind-spot functions advertised for the entry model.
ParkSense rear parking sensors and a rear-view camera assist with reversing. The standard specification does not establish a 360-degree surround-view camera or front parking sensors. LED headlights and daytime running lights, stability and traction control, front airbags, front seat-mounted side airbags and curtain airbags for both rows complete the principal safety equipment.
Active Driving Assist remains a driver-assistance function that requires supervision. Its presence should not be confused with hands-free capability offered elsewhere. Weather, road markings, traffic and sensor conditions can affect how the assistance systems operate.
Pricing and Options
The Ontario cash configurator showed a C$68,390 base price for a Grand Cherokee Altitude in no-charge Bright White paint, with no additional options. A displayed C$4,000 Consumer Cash discount reduced the estimated amount to C$64,390 before sales tax. The incentive-adjusted price is therefore different from the undiscounted base price, and the offer should be rechecked when requesting a quote.
The optional power sunroof was C$1,295, Trailer Tow Package C$695 and Mopar Finishing Package C$575. Paint upgrades were C$495 or C$595 depending on colour. Sales tax, registration, insurance and any applicable retailer charges affect the final cost. Compare an itemized price for an Altitude with the similarly equipped Limited before deciding whether the black styling or additional comfort equipment is the better use of the budget.
Competition and Buying Considerations
The Honda Passport is a useful comparison for buyers prioritizing a two-row midsize SUV. Nissan Murano and Subaru Outback also merit consideration when five-seat utility and comfort are the main requirements. Their powertrains and towing equipment differ, so matching the actual trailer requirement is more useful than comparing a range-wide towing headline.
The Ford Explorer and Dodge Durango introduce three-row alternatives if occasional extra seating is valuable. Within Jeep’s own range, the Grand Cherokee L serves the same need. The Altitude’s appeal is its five-seat packaging, dark appearance, strong turbo-engine specification and included navigation and assistance technology. Its optional sunroof and manually adjusted passenger seat are notable points to compare with adjacent trims.
