2026 Ford Ranger XLT: Specs, Features & Pricing

The 2026 Ford Ranger XLT sits between the work-focused XL and the more luxurious Lariat. It combines a five-seat Crew Cab, standard four-wheel drive and a choice of turbocharged engines. Its equipment is especially important to understand: the base XLT, High group and Technology Package have different screens, comfort features and assistance systems.

Models and configuration

The Ranger range includes XL, XLT, Lariat and Raptor. The Canadian XLT is a SuperCrew with four full-size doors, five seats and a roughly five-foot cargo bed. There is no choice of a longer XLT bed or a smaller cab in this lineup. The Raptor has its own engine and chassis specification and should not be treated as an XLT equipment package.

Engine specifications

The standard 2.3-litre turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder produces 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. The optional 2.7-litre twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 produces 315 horsepower and 400 lb-ft. Both pair with a ten-speed automatic and standard four-wheel drive. The V6 was listed at C$2,895 in the checked Canadian builder.

Electronic shift-on-the-fly four-wheel drive is included. The standard rear axle is a 3.73 non-limited-slip unit, while an electronic-locking rear differential is optional. That locking differential is a separate hardware choice rather than a feature automatically included because the truck is an XLT.

Towing and payload

Either XLT engine can support up to 7,500 lb (3,402 kg) of towing with the required Trailer Tow Package and correct configuration. The package was listed at C$500 in Ford’s builder. Standard bumper towing provisions and four-pin wiring should not be confused with the equipment needed for the maximum trailer rating.

The optional C$1,165 Advanced Towing Package includes the Trailer Tow Package, an integrated trailer brake controller and Pro Trailer Backup Assist. The combined Advanced Towing plus Technology Package was C$3,070. It bundles the two sets of features; it is an alternative to choosing the separate packages, not a cost to add on top of both.

Ford lists maximum available payload of 1,763 lb (800 kg) for the 2.3-litre 4×4 and 1,513 lb (686 kg) for the 2.7-litre 4×4. The actual truck’s door label is the useful limit after options are fitted. Passengers, accessories and trailer tongue weight reduce the allowance remaining for bed cargo.

Exterior and cargo bed

The XLT Sport Appearance equipment includes grey-painted exterior accents, 17-inch grey-painted aluminum wheels and 255/70R17 all-terrain tires. LED reflector headlights and LED fog lights are standard. A locking tailgate and six cargo tie-down hooks support everyday loading.

Ford gives the bed dimensions as 1,514 mm long, 1,584 mm wide and 524 mm deep, with 1,224 mm between the wheel wells and 1,232.6 litres of volume. An integrated box side step, bed lighting and alternative appearance packages are available. The FX4 package adds separate off-road equipment; those parts should not be assumed on every XLT.

Interior and seating

The standard Ranger XLT has cloth front buckets, a centre console and a three-seat rear bench. Ford lists an eight-way manually adjustable driver’s seat and a six-way manually adjustable passenger seat for the base configuration. The rear bench folds and provides under-seat storage. Manual single-zone air conditioning is standard.

The C$2,550 XLT High 301A group adds heated front seats, a ten-way power driver’s seat and an eight-way power passenger seat, both with lumbar adjustment. It also adds dual-zone automatic climate control, heated power-glass mirrors, a power-sliding rear window with defroster and the larger 12-inch centre display. Those are upgrades over base 300A equipment, not universal XLT features.

Remote start operated through the key fob, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and a leather-wrapped gear selector are listed as standard. The base steering wheel is vinyl wrapped. Pro Power Onboard 400-watt outlets and a wireless charging pad are optional, so they should be checked on the individual build.

Infotainment system

A 10-inch centre touchscreen and an eight-inch instrument display are standard. SYNC 4A supports compatible Apple CarPlay and Android Auto phones, and USB-A and USB-C ports provide wired connections. A six-speaker audio system is included; the XLT specification does not include the Lariat’s premium B&O system as standard.

The High group upgrades the centre screen to 12 inches without changing the XLT’s standard eight-inch instrument display. Connected navigation has a one-year trial, while SiriusXM with 360L has a three-month trial. Connected functions may need a paid plan after the included period.

Safety and driver assistance

Standard assistance includes pre-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assistance, automatic high beams and blind-spot information with cross-traffic alert and trailer coverage. A digital rearview camera and rear parking sensors are also included. Stability control, trailer sway control and front and curtain airbags support the safety equipment list.

The C$1,905 Technology Package adds adaptive cruise control with speed-sign recognition, front parking sensors and a 360-degree camera. It is separate from the High group’s seat and screen upgrades. Buyers who also want advanced towing assistance can select the combined package described above. All assistance systems depend on their operating conditions and require driver attention.

Fuel economy

The 2.3-litre 4×4 is rated at 12.2 L/100 km city, 9.9 highway and 11.2 combined in the 2026 NRCan guide. The 2.7-litre V6 4×4 is rated at 13.0 city, 10.0 highway and 11.6 combined. These laboratory ratings provide a consistent comparison; winter weather, cargo and trailer use can raise consumption. Both are gasoline engines.

Canadian pricing

The checked base Ranger XLT showed C$47,080 MSRP plus C$2,695 in fees, for C$49,775 before sales tax and registration. This was a base 2.3-litre configuration, rather than the price of every vehicle carrying the XLT badge.

The builder listed XLT High at C$2,550, the 2.7-litre engine at C$2,895, Technology Package at C$1,905 and Trailer Tow Package at C$500. Appearance, off-road and convenience options can increase the final total or change other selections. Package overlap means the complete configured price is more reliable than simply adding every advertised upgrade. Prices and offers can change.

Competition

The Chevrolet Colorado LT, GMC Canyon Elevation, Toyota Tacoma SR5 and Nissan Frontier SV are useful alternatives when comparing midsize pickup equipment. Match four-wheel drive, cab layout, heated-seat equipment and towing requirements before comparing prices. Their engine offerings and package structures differ.

Within the Ranger range, Lariat is worth comparing against an XLT with High and Technology packages, because it includes more cabin and assistance equipment. A basic XLT makes a different value case: it retains cloth seating and simpler climate controls while offering the core Crew Cab and towing configuration. Decide which features are necessary before choosing the package mix.

Frequently asked questions

Which engines can I choose in the Ranger XLT?

The standard 2.3-litre EcoBoost has 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. An optional 2.7-litre EcoBoost V6 provides 315 horsepower and 400 lb-ft. Both use a ten-speed automatic and four-wheel drive.

Is the Ranger XLT ready to tow 7,500 lb as standard?

The 7,500-lb maximum requires the Trailer Tow Package and the correct configuration. Basic bumper towing provisions and four-pin wiring are not equivalent to that complete setup.

Are power seats and the 12-inch screen standard on every Ranger XLT?

No. Those upgrades are included in the XLT High 301A group. The base 300A specification uses manually adjustable front seats and a different equipment list.
