The 2026 Ford Ranger Lariat is the premium equipment trim in Ford’s regular midsize pickup lineup. It combines a SuperCrew cab, standard 4×4 and a body-on-frame chassis with ActiveX upholstery, large digital displays, B&O audio and a 360-degree camera. Buyers can choose between two EcoBoost engines and add towing or off-road packages.

Models Available

The 2026 Ranger lineup includes XL, XLT, Lariat and Raptor. Lariat sits above XLT for comfort and technology. Raptor uses a different 3.0-litre engine and specialized suspension, so its horsepower, payload and towing numbers should not be assigned to Lariat. All four Canadian trims have standard four-wheel drive.

Lariat uses a four-door SuperCrew cab with seating for five and a cargo box approximately five feet long. The standard Sport Appearance Package brings 18-inch machined aluminum wheels with dark pockets. Black Appearance and Chrome Accent packages provide alternative finishes, while the optional FX4 package adds off-road equipment.

Engine Specifications

The standard 2.3-litre turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder produces 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with a 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission and 4×4. Ford lists automatic stop-start technology as part of the engine specification.

The optional 2.7-litre twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 produces 315 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, also using the 10-speed automatic. It increases engine output but changes fuel consumption and the published payload maximum. Ford’s maximum output figures depend on its prescribed fuel and test conditions; they should be read separately from regular-gasoline consumption ratings.

Towing and Payload

Ranger Lariat can tow up to 7,500 lb with the required Trailer Tow Package. Ford lists that maximum for both its 2.3-litre and 2.7-litre engine choices. The package is optional, so a Lariat badge or standard 4×4 does not confirm that a particular truck has the equipment for the maximum rating.

The optional Advanced Towing Package adds trailer assistance equipment. Ford also lists an available integrated trailer brake controller that requires the Trailer Tow Package. Buyers should match the truck’s installed equipment to the trailer’s loaded weight and braking requirements, using the applicable towing guide.

Published 4×4 payload maxima are 1,763 lb with the 2.3-litre engine and 1,513 lb with the 2.7-litre engine. These are upper limits for eligible configurations, not the exact allowance of every Lariat. Options and accessories affect the truck’s remaining capacity. Its door label governs the weight available for people, cargo and trailer tongue load.

Fuel Economy

The 2026 Natural Resources Canada guide rates the 2.3-litre Ranger 4×4 at 12.2 L/100 km city, 9.9 highway and 11.2 combined. The 2.7-litre 4×4 is rated at 13.0 city, 10.0 highway and 11.6 combined. Both entries specify regular gasoline.

These standardized figures help compare the engines, but they do not describe consumption while towing. Weather, payload, tire choices and accessories can also change fuel use. The Ranger Raptor’s separate rating belongs to that model, rather than the V6 Lariat.

Interior and Seating

Lariat has ActiveX-trimmed front bucket seats and an ActiveX-trimmed rear bench. Ford’s current Canadian equipment list is important here: upholstery from an earlier model year should not be assumed to carry over. The front seats are separated by a flow-through console with a floor-mounted shifter.

Standard cabin features include dual-zone automatic climate control, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, ambient lighting, rain-sensing wipers and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Intelligent Access with push-button start, a universal garage-door opener and illuminated vanity mirrors are also listed. Carpeted floor mats are standard, with tray-style floor liners available.

A power-sliding rear window with privacy glass and defrost appears in the standard exterior equipment list. A power moonroof is optional, with Ford noting late availability during the model year. The presence of an optional feature in a promotional image does not mean it is installed on every Lariat.

Infotainment and Connectivity

Lariat includes a 12-inch digital instrument display and a 12-inch centre touchscreen running SYNC 4A. Its B&O audio system has 10 speakers, including a subwoofer. USB-A and USB-C ports, Ford app connectivity and connected navigation with a listed one-year trial are part of the published equipment.

The optional Convenience Package adds a wireless charging pad, 400-watt Pro Power Onboard and LED bed lighting. These items are available equipment for 2026, rather than features to assume from older Lariat specifications. Connected services may have separate activation, compatibility and renewal requirements.

Safety and Driver Assistance

Standard Ford Co-Pilot360 technology includes Pre-Collision Assist with automatic emergency braking, a lane-keeping system, blind-spot information with cross-traffic alert and trailer coverage, and automatic high beams. Lariat also lists adaptive cruise control with speed-sign recognition, front and rear parking sensors and a 360-degree camera.

The camera system supplies views around the truck to help with positioning and checking nearby obstacles. Assistance systems have operating limits and require an attentive driver. Front airbags, Safety Canopy side curtains, child-seat LATCH anchors, rear child-proof door locks and tire-pressure monitoring are also included in Ford’s equipment lists.

Cargo Box and Exterior Equipment

The box measures 1,514 mm long, 1,584 mm wide and 524 mm deep, with 1,224 mm between the wheel wells and 1,232.6 litres of cargo volume. Those dimensions are useful when checking whether specific tools or equipment fit with the tailgate shut.

Standard exterior features include LED reflector headlights, LED fog lamps, power-folding heated side mirrors, a power-locking tailgate, six cargo-box tie-down hooks and zone lighting. An integrated box-side step and running boards are optional. The optional FX4 Off-Road Package adds hardware for rougher terrain; it does not turn Lariat into the separately engineered Raptor.

Pricing in CAD

Ford’s Canadian Lariat model page displayed a starting price of $58,290 for the site’s Ontario pricing context. The starting-price disclosure includes destination and delivery, applicable air-conditioning and green levies, and current adjustments or incentives where applicable. It excludes options, retailer charges, licensing and sales taxes.

The optional V6, towing equipment, Convenience Package, appearance packages, paint and other accessories change the final amount. A dated, itemized dealer quote is necessary to compare equivalent trucks. The starting figure above is not an as-tested price for the vehicle in our video.

Competition

Ranger Lariat competes with equipped versions of the Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon, Toyota Tacoma and Nissan Frontier. Compare engine output, the required towing package, actual payload, cargo-box dimensions and included safety technology rather than relying only on trim names.

Within Ford’s range, XLT is an alternative for buyers who can select the particular upgrades they need, while Raptor adds specialized hardware at a different price and with lower published towing and payload maxima. Maverick Lariat offers a smaller pickup format and a hybrid option, but its maximum towing capacity remains below the properly equipped Ranger’s.

What to Check Before Choosing a Lariat

The key decisions are the 2.3-litre versus 2.7-litre engine, the installed towing equipment and the optional convenience or off-road packages. The standard 360-degree camera and B&O system are clear Lariat features; wireless charging and Pro Power Onboard require the appropriate option. For hauling, use the actual truck’s labels and guide to establish its usable capacity.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Ranger Lariat have leather upholstery?

Ford’s Canadian 2026 equipment list specifies ActiveX-trimmed seating. ActiveX is synthetic, so an older Ranger Lariat’s leather specification should not be carried over.

Does either Ranger Lariat engine support 7,500-lb towing?

Yes, when properly configured with the required Trailer Tow Package. The package is optional, and the actual truck’s payload and towing documentation still govern its limits.

Does choosing the Ranger’s V6 always increase payload?

No. Ford’s published 4×4 payload maxima are lower for the 2.7-litre V6 than the 2.3-litre four-cylinder. The individual truck’s door label gives the actual allowance after its factory configuration is accounted for.
